Positive Behavior Intervention System

Mission Statement

We will respect our student's rhythm of learning and offer inclusive and enriching intellectual, physical, social, moral and emotional experiences while promoting the learning of both official language. We believe that our learning community is one of mutual respect achieved through consistency, collaboration and social responsibility. We believe in expending our student's horizons so that they see learning as inherent to living.

As mentioned in our November issue, we are excited to launch our Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS) here at Heritage School. The goal is to create positive learning environments that encourage and support pro-social student behavior at the school wide, classroom, and individual student levels using current, research validated practices in positive behavior support. School staff will be modeling, teaching and looking for positive behavior!! Our four expectations are Respect-Inclusion-Responsibility andEntraide (helping each other). The acronym is RIRE which means laugh in French. We will be teaching these expectations in designated areas such as the playground, canteen, hallway, assemblies, etc. These expectations are to be taught regularly until the student spontaneously uses them. We strongly believe that this system will promote the development of positive behavior, maximize academic success for all students, and create a sense of belonging among our students. Please have a conversation around the dinner table about these 4 expectations! We will be celebrating our success during our monthly assemble the last day of each month! You are all invited!!
